St Barnabas was an apostle and missionary companion of Paul. We are told in the Book of Acts that he sold a field and donated the money. He was a key early leader of the church in Antioch. He is also credited with founding the church in Cyprus.
The roots of St Barnabas Episcopal Church go back to 1873 when McMinnville was newly settled and a some resident Episcopalians decided they wanted a church. In 1875, the small congregation built a church on donated land at the corner of Fifth and Davis Streets. In 1964 that church was sold and the current one was built.
Today St Barnabas Church is known for its hospitality toward the hungry who come to our soup kitchen and the welcome we offer to those new to the church and the community.
